Motherboard audio quality?

I have an ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 motherboard. Can anyone give me an opinion on the audio quality this will produce? should i invest in a sound card? Also is there any difference between two headsets, both of which use the green and pink cables, but one uses USB to power it? Can this one produce louder audio?

If you have decent speakers/monitor speakers/high end headphones and really care about dynamic range and clarity then yeah you would definitely notice a difference upgrading to a decent card or audio interface.

Its hard to tell without looking at the specifications of the two headsets to tell whether one would be louder than the other, but devices that are not USB powered and are sufficiently powered from audio outputs can still get very loud. I'd check some reviews of the headsets or check the specifications tab on the manufacturer's website.
