Motherboard Audio Question

I have the gigabyte z87x-d3h motherboard and i was wondering if i could put a better audio card in it or whatever. I dont know anything about audio on motherboards so your help is appreciated.

what output port do you use for audio on your current motherboard? Speaker (green), HDMI, spdif, etc.

well when not using my head phones i use the green port on the back, as for headphones i use usb3.0

Well, a sound card will definitely sound better when you compare analog outs (which is the green jacks). A sound card wont affect the sound the headphones make, since it uses its own sound card built in to the headphones.

This card sounds great out of the green jacks. It also has DTS connect which you can hook up to a receiver with 1 single optical cable, and it will make your games output in real 7.1.

yeah you put it in a slot on the motherboard, install drivers and voila.
