[SOLVED] Motherboard backwards compatibility

Hello all,

I find myself in the market for a new mobo, and my question is this:

Will my Core i7-7700 CPU be compatible with a mobo that runs a chipset intended for use with later-gen hardware (the current one is an MSI Z270 SLI PLUS), for example a mobo running a Z370 chipset? I don't want to go off and buy something that I can't use, and my own financial circumstances mean that a total CPU and mobo upgrade is out of the question at the moment.
