Motherboard beeps when i insert only one stick of ram!

I recently bought another stick of ram and upgraded to 8 gb ram.
After inserting the sticks into my mobo, the pc booted well. After checking if it read my ram i saw only 4 gb installed in cpu z, i then took out my other slot of ram and the computer started beeping and refused to boot. My motherboard is h81m sd2v.

I tried both sticks in the other ram slot and they both worked..

Not really.. I have two slots and i will have to sell my 2x4 gb ram to get an 8 gb stick .

Oh I thought you have 4 of them since you wrote "I tried both sticks in the other ram slot and they both worked.."
Then yeah sell them if you can and get 1x8GB
