Question Motherboard buying help

Apr 18, 2018
I've recently bought a new CPU (i9-9900K) and GPU (Nvidia 2080 Super)and found out that the i9-9900K isn't compatible with my current motherboard and found that the sources that said it was were wrong when it came. So I'm looking for a new motherboard in the sea of all of them its a bit overwhelming even with the fancy list at the top of this thread.

I'm looking for an upgrade that will be the same dimensions as my current motherboard that will take all the below parts as well as the i9-9900K with a bonus being an RGB header as my water block for the 2080 Super has an RGB cable on it and just hangs there at the moment and if the CPU slot and GPU slot are in the same place as my current motherboard that will mean no new tube bending which will be awesome!

My requirements in a nutshell:
  • Can hold i9-9900K
  • Compatible with my current hardware
  • Same size and dimensions as the current motherboard
  • RGB header (bonus)
  • CPU and GPU slots in the same place (bonus)
Current specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700
GPU: Nvidia RTX 2080S (Super)
SSD: Samsung 860 Evo 1TB
SSD: Samsung 860 Evo 1TB
HDD: Seagate FireCuda SSHD 2TB (2016)
RAM: G.SKILL Trident Z RGB DDR4 3000 C16 2x8GB
CASE: Lian Li PC-O11 Dynamic

Many thanks in advance :)
There are a bunch of options which match your criteria. You could go ahead and get the current Z390 generation of your motherboard. There is a WiFi and non-WiFi variant. As far as I can tell the only difference is the inclusion of 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0 in the WiFi model.

I didn't dig into the manual to see how the inclusion of those affects usable internal connectors. As motherboards can't utilize every internal connection simultaneously. So it may affect something. I'd only get the WiFi model if you want WiFi or Bluetooth 5.0.
