motherboard change, windows key lost!!!!!!

hey guys, i had an hp pavilion desktop with windows 8 installed on it.
after an accident i changed my motherboard. Now, windows needs activation again!
I found my key with cmd but the key isn't working. I post in hp forum and they said that i have to buy a different key. Is there any way to find my key again??

OEM keys are tied to the motherboard. So yes, if you change the motherboard you usually have to buy a new Windows license.
Call Microsoft support. tell them your old motherboard died, give them the key you have. If you are lucky they will validate it on the motherboard.
