Motherboard Chip Question

I am building a PC in the summer and I have an Intel Core i5-6600K Processer.

Do I need a z87 (or what ever the chip is) or a z170, could I use any other motherboard chip to overclock by PC?

The Z170 is the chipset for that CPU. The Z87 is designed for the previous 2 generations of Intel CPUs.
