motherboard compatibility determinants?

What are the determinants for mobo compatibility?

I know that my mobo PCIe slot is v1.0 and I'm running Vista so the card needs to support DirectX10. I'm also aware that some cards power hungry so need their own supply. Other than that, are there any other determinants (I have a business machine so gaming and GPU power aren't a major factor).

Motherboard compatibility with graphics card? Like you said, there needs to be an appropriate PCI slot, enough power and occasionally some OS' save special requirements. But other than that no. You got them all..
