Motherboard Compatibility Help

I am looking to buy an 8th gen CPU more specifically the i7 8700K but I have a rather old motherboard which is the MSI Z170 Gaming M5 and I was just wondering if it will be compatible with an 8th gen CPU or if I will need to buy a new motherboard.

No it is not compatible. Only new boards are compatible with the new line of intel cpus. Z370.

No. Only Z370 supports coffee lake 8th gen for now. Cheaper H, B 3xx series will appear next year.
