Motherboard compatibility issue with older soundcard

Hello,
It has been quite some time since I have lasted posted anything here. I have a question. I am considering a new build (been about six years since my last) utilizing a z77 motherboard/ivy bridge idea. I have a Creative X-Fi Elite Pro sound card that I really hate to give up. I have perused many z77 motherboards from many of the manufacturers and was wondering if anything with a 'PCI' slot would still work with such an older sound card. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to comment. Thank you for your time.

Any of the older Creative cards is a real hit and miss proposition. See if you can find win8 or 7 drivers for it. You might get lucky.

You can use the card, no problems with that. There might be a driver issue as abekl said. Also windows may just install the driver automatically when you plug the card in.
