Motherboard compatibility issue

Hey guys. Can you help me? I've aqcuired a powercolor amd r9 280x 3gb oc gpu. I've tried it with my old mobo, intel dh61ww but it doesn't work. I'm just wondering if it will work with an ASUS H61m-e mobo? And how do you know if a gpu is compatible with a mobo based on specs alone? Thanks

It will work in the ASUS one. It should work in the intel one too. What is your processor and PSU?
