Hi, I have Dell vostoro 220s.

My System's current Specifications are:

  • intel motherboard G45M03
    Processor Intel Core Duo 2 E7500 @ 2.93 GHZ
    4GB DDR2 RAM
Power Supply Output = 250 Watt
    HDD sata 160GB
    No DVD/CD ROM
    Two 80mm cooling fans.

I want to upgrade my processor (Core 2 Duo E8600 or if i can get e8700) and add a Graphic Card (Radeon HD 4550) My question to the community is:

Q1. Will Core 2 Duo E8600 processor be compatible with my motherboard G45M03 (as the socket for both is LGA 775)

Q2. How much power supply would I require if I add Graphic Card (Radeon HD 4550) on PCI Xpress slot?

Much Appreciate for help, Thank You.

Radeon HD 4550 155 Watt under load.

Core Duo 2 E7500 is 65w.

You are getting close to max with your PSU. And if its old it wont push 250w out.

The CPU should be compatible.

Are you looking to game?

Your system is pretty weak. Even with the upgrades its still going to be on the lower end.

System is for mostly graphic designing and coding; gaming is a part once in a while. I'm mostly concerned with PSU. Even if I put in Intel Core 2 Extreme
QX9650 (130 W) still I don't know if there is any 300 W, 400 W or above PSU for dell vostoro 220s or is there?

getting a new 4th gen system might be a simple solution but I'm kind of short on budget for now.
