Motherboard compatibility with graphics card

I was wondering... if i change out my AMD Sapphire Radeon 6870HD with a geforce gtx 780Ti will this work with my motherboard? and will i get a better preformance with the 780?

Yep, your MoBo is fine for any GPU. What is your CPU, PSU and where are you located? Is the new 900 series not available in your region? Its better than 700 series while being cheaper (the GTX 970).

I have that same motherboard; yes it will work Providing you have the CPU to make use of the 780ti then yeah, you'll definitely get better performance.

cpu is amd am3 phenom II X6 1055T and i have a silver power sp - ss500 500W and i live in norway btw

That CPU would bottleneck the GPU pretty bad in intensive titles. And the PSU is not powerful enough too. I'd go for GTX 750 Ti, or R9 270 at max, concerning your PSU. Upgrading the PSU can take the GPU limit to about R9 280 or maybe even 285.

Yep, you can actually take the 970 on the current PSU itself, its a 150W TDP card, but not with current CPU, it'd bottleneck even if you OC. Also, what wattage is your PSU on 12V line?

not 100% sure 😛 it says 500W so that is my answer but im still not sure is there any special way to tell?

Nevermind, I got the info. Its 34A on 12V line, and looks quite good quality, it should support the GPU, and a more powerful CPU like FX 6 or 8.

one final question

what is the best cpu my motherboard can handle with my current psu?
like thinking about size and all
