I have an old Asrock H61M-HVGS (2011 release) and i want to upgrade my gpu to Gtx 1050 , my mbd supports pci express 2.0 x16 and should work with new gpus but the latest bios version is 2012...

can you help me guys ?

Yes, it will work fine.

GPU's are PCIE cards. They are backward compatible. So most modern GPU's will be PCIE 3.0, and they fit and work fine in a PCIE 2.0 slot.

The 1050 does not need any extra power cables, and will power itself from the slot.

Just make sure you have a good enough PSU to run it. A decent 450w PSU is fine for that.

so it doesn't matter what version of BIOS i have on the mbd ?

That can make a difference. It would always be advisable to have an up to date bios though anyway.

MERGED QUESTION
Question from baha.ayadi : "GPU Compatibility with Older Motherboard"

is asrock H61M-HVGS with a BIOS version of 2012 can be compatible with GTX1050 ?

i have my doubts because the mbd is old (2011) and theoretically a pcie 2.0 x16 can handle any new gpu but they told me that you need to update the bios. and the last version is in 2012 ... can a 2017 gpu work in mbd with 2012 bios version ?

and thank you so much !!
