Motherboard competetive with nvidia?

I have the GIGABYTE GA-H61MA-D2V motherboard and i don't know if it is competetive with the nvidia graphics cards. Please answer

if a motherboard has a pcie slot it will be compatible with any pcie card

and motherboards dont compete with video cards as motherboards are the building blocks where you plug all of your components into while video cards are the "eyes" of your system and are responsible for doing the graphics calculations for games and such
