Im looking for a Cpu and motherboard to upgrade my current PC ive been shopping about and these are afew ive looked at -

MSI Z270 KRAIT Kaby Lake/ Krait B250 with a Intel
Core i5-6400T

Would this be a good enough upgrade when Paired with an MSI GTX 1050ti?

EDIT - I was also looking at a - Ryzen 5 1600 with a MSI X370 KRAIT GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard

Solution
The Z270 chipset should only be chosen if you intend to buy an unlocked (and more expensive) "K" CPU for overclocking. The i5 6400T is probably a poor choice all around - it's a generation older, and "T" designates that it's a lower performance, lower power part.

On the Intel side, my recommendations are:
Cheap - Pentium G4560 + B250
Moderate - i5 7500 + B250
High end - i7 7700 + B250
Enthusiast/overclocking - i7 7700K + Z270 + aftermarket cooling

For AMD, the chips that make sense are:
R5 1500X
R5 1600
R7 1700

Either paired with an inexpensive A320 board or a B350 board if you intend to overclock.

What would you suggest as a 'k' CPU because i may want to overclock in the future? And The AMD's Sound good cheers!

So for all round performance you would recommend AMD over Intel as im running AMD A series at the moment?

Intel CPUs have faster cores but fewer of them. Because of this, they're almost always faster in gaming, which needs fewer but faster cores. For editing, the AMD chips give you more cores, which are more often used.

The "K" CPU I recommend is the i7 7700K, paired with a Z270 board. be aware however that the cost premium of a 7700K, heatsink and Z chipset motherboard is generally $100-150 over the non-K CPU. Don't bother with the i5 7600K.

EDIT: I'm not sure what your A series has to do with a new CPU and motherboard.

Cool Ill have a look into all your advice Thankyou!! It was just to let you know what im using now to do it all wasnt sure weather it would help. Also intel will still be okay for editing i assume there will still be an improvement?

The A series has nothing to do with the newer AMD chips and are much slower. For your uses I would go with AMD Ryzen over Intel. For AMD Ryzen though you will need to replace your CPU, Motherboard & RAM (DDR4).
