Motherboard cpu socket, bent pins?

Hi,
I recently bought an asus P8Z77-V LK motherboard from newegg and after setting up my system along with the rest of the components listed at the bottom, the computer would not post and no video was being displayed on the monitor. After looking inside the computer I noticed the dram led light was lit indicating some sort of ram or cpu problem. So after spending a few hours trying 3 differerent types of ram in each dimm socket I removed the cpu to make sure it was seated correctly.

When I removed the cpu I noticed at quick glance something was wrong with motherboard cpu socket. After closer inspection I think it appears that some of the cpu socket pins(?) are bent.

What I am wondering is, would this be enough to possibly cause the system to fail and not make it to post? Could this possibly have damaged the cpu as well?

At the moment I am planning to RMA the motherboard because I don't know what else to do. I'm not sure how the pins managed to get bent, as I seated the cpu in correctly the first time and I was extra gentle and careful.

I guess what I'm looking for is a second opinion, does it look bent or damaged to someone more experienced than me, should I RMA the cpu as well just to be safe?

Any comments or opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I can't see the image (looks like it didn't get attached), but bent pins are definitely a problem (most definitely would cause system not to boot or post). Your cpu is probably ok. RMAing the board is really your only choice, so next will just be testing everything when you get the new board.

I can't find a pins chart now, but I doubt that that area is for memory.

I really don't know what else could cause it to not post and not display video if it isn't that. I've tested the ram in another computer and it works fine, so I really have no clue if it's not that.

No, but I took the motherboard out and double checked that nothing was possibly creating a short with the board. At first I thought I maybe had a standoff that was touching the bottom of the board or something, but I've only got the 6 of them where the motherboard screws in. I don't think it's likely that there's something creating a short with the board but what do I know haha

Try taking the board outside the case, reinstall the CPU, use a CPU stock cooler (if available) and start the board (put it on its cardbox). see if still the same.

Took out the board along with the psu and put the board on the non conductive bag it came in, booted it up with just the 1 stick of ram and the cpu cooler on and still nothing. No post and no video. Looking like I'm gonna have to RMA it
