Motherboard cpu support list

I have a ga-78lmt-s2 motherboard and on my mother board support list it lists an fx 8300 amd fx 8100, does that mean every version of the 8300 series such as the 8350 or just the 8300? I'm not sure which version of bios I have, is there any way I can check through cpu-z or any software? I'm looking to upgrade my processor without having to change my motherboard and purchase windows since this computer came as a prebuilt

No it only means the 95 watt TDP FX8300 and 8100 CPU's not the 125 watt 8320/50.

Okay, well that answers that question. What about the bios version and should I even bother upgrading from my fx 6100 to something that only has 2 more cores

I would not bother, the FX x3xx series is 3 years old so saving money for a meaningful upgrade is what I would recommend. At least Intel is making progress.

Yea I feared that would be the case, I was trying to avoid doing that at this point since my windows is oem
