Motherboard crashes when i play games

I just got a new motherboard for hp pavilion 15 and Everytime i play games it gives bsod after like 2mins of playing the game. But if i use msi afterburner to underclock the GPU, i can play for as long as it want without bsod but at reduced performance. I have tried reinstalling windows, updating drivers and windows, nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to fix this

You just answered your own question. Check the temperatures when gaming, most likely your GPU overheats.
If that's the case open your laptop, clean it and reapply thermal paste on the CPU and GPU (I recommend Arctic MX-4).

Sounds like the definition of an unstable overclock. It’s also possible your PSU can’t supply enough juice to run when your GPU is under load. Post your full system specs to give us a better idea of what’s going on.
