Hi there,

I have just finished my new build and I am pretty happy with it, fans are running, LED's are lit up and the motherboard is recognizing all the hardware components.
I do however have one issue, there is a debugging code on my motherboard which says A0 or AO I assume it's the number 0, after looking in the manual it states IDE initialization has started or something of similar wording.
I had a quick google round but couldn't find anything solid can you guys tell me if this is normal and ok to just leave or is there a way I can get rid of this annoying code on my debug counter?

My mobo is a gigabyte z97x (the red one with an eagle eye lol)

graphics card is GTX970 msi NVidia (awesome automatic fans)
my processor is an i5 4690k
I have a 1tb ssd drive and a disk reader (I put this because I assume IDE is the old cable that SATA replaced, correct me if I am wrong?)

This rig is set up for gaming and general use

Another question I thought I would bung here is when I first shutdown my newly booted computer after putting all drives on and I did do restarts during that period the shut down took ages but didn't show anything on the monitor, does this indicate anything or was it just shutting down properly for the first time and going through some stuff (won't have a chance to check again until after work today).

If your motherboard is meant to have a debug code display then yes it should always...
If it boots up fine, then don't worry about it. The debug counter shows what the motherboard is doing. A0 code is fine, it means the OS will/has booted.

After applying windows updates, it does takes some time to apply during shutdown even though it does not display it.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply much appreciated.
I know it's petty but is there a way to get rid of it on my mobo?
I had a little google but can't find out if the mobo is meant to always have a code there or if there are no problems it should just go blank or go green or something, any chance you know?
Is the motherboard always meant to have a code of some sort on there?

If your motherboard is meant to have a debug code display then yes it should always display a code to show what the motherboard is doing. The A0 code is fine, it is not a bad code.
