motherboard doesnt display on gpu

this is quite an odd problem ive had with an amd mobo recently, when i plug in a graphics card it doesn't display out of the card but it does out of the motherboard, ive checked the bios and by default it goes to the pci slot but still only displays an image out of the motherboard, ive also tried multiple cards with the same result, is the boards pci slot broken?? thanks for any replies

it has an athlon x4 630, 4gb ram, the board looks pretty old, this is a really odd one theres no branding on it at all
