I need some help figuring out what motherboard I should use. Im trying to upgrade my computer system seeing as it is getting quite old now.

I currently have a new AMD radeon r9 850x graphics card, and im planning on buying the intel i5 6500 cpu. I have no clue what to look for in a motherboard, so what motherboards would optimize the performance of my cpu? Computer will mostly be used for gaming. Oh, and I have no intention of overclocking anything

Kind regards,

HERE (LINK) is THG's "Best Intel Motherboards". The only Z170 board that THG lists is the Gigabyte Z170-HD3, review HERE (LINK)

The GB mobo only costs $115 at Newegg, so read the review closely to find out if it actually has all of the features that you want/need.

EDIT: Correction. You do not need a Z170 mobo for a locked CPU. The Asus H170 Pro recommended by Glamdringfh should work just fine.

And which one of the H170 series would you recommend? Somebody else already listen the PRO, but i can get a PRO GAMING for 30 euro's more. Will that really be worth it ? Also, I'm completly trusting your jugdgement here. 3 people recommended the H170 so it should be a solid choice

The Asus H170 Pro has "1 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 mode, gray)". It will run your R7 250X just fine. Just be sure that you have a good PSU with enough Watts, and enough room in your case.
