I bought an Intel Pentium D 925 processor a couple of months ago to see if I can upgrade the CPU in an old HP computer. I swapped it out but it didn't work, which I sort of figured it wouldn't. I still would like to use it but I don't know what chipset would be compatible with it. What chipsets would work with the Intel Pentium D 925?

Any LGA775 motherboard. i845GV/GE/i848P/i865G/GV/P/PE/i910GL/i915G/GL/GV/P/PL/i925X/XE/i945/955/i945G/P/ i955X/i946/946GZ/PL/965/i975/Q965/P965/G965/Q963/i975X/ X35/P35/G35/P33/G33/Q33/P31/G31/X38/X48/P45/P43/G45/G43/G41/B43/Q43/Q45,
all support LGA 775.

Well if it should work in any LGA 775 motherboard, why didn't it work in the Asus PTGD1-LA motherboard I have? The chipset is i915G and its an LGA 775 socket. It doesn't make any sense. :??:

Nope, it still works. I put the old CPU back in and it works just fine. I might try the Pentium D 925 in it again though and see if it'll work. Maybe I missed something.

Sorry that I haven't responded in awhile, internet issues. As it turns out, my motherboard does not support 64-bit processors. But I believe I found a few motherboards online that may work with it. I appriciate your help.
