motherboard fries question

Quick question if a motherboard fries will it simply not turn on when pushing the power button on or will it boot for couple seconds and shut off or what?

Hello... There are alot of different systems on a MB... and alot external/wiring/inserted connections you need connected before a MB/PS will BOOT... So there are many things that need to be checked and verified before I would call a MB fried...
1) Power Supply and connections
2) Power switch and connections.
3) BIOS
4) Memory
For those two symptons.

It can 'fry' in different ways eg the pcie slot - the graphics card won't work or a ram slot

But any of these you need to replace the motherboard.

when a mother board fries IF it stills power up and boot, you may lose your drives as those controller channels fried, as well as pci slots or other ports and other parts can and do work fine. there should be error codes or sometimes beep codes lightning strikes can damage parts or fry the whole system components and all or not.
