Motherboard FSB vs. CPU FSB, compatible?

I am looking to upgrade the CPU on an Intel DP35DP Motherboard. The mobo FSB speed maxes out at 1066MHz, yet according to the processor compatibility chart found here http://processormatch.intel.com/CompDB/SearchResult.aspx?Boardname=dp35dp , the mobo is compatible with CPUs that have a FSB of 1333MHz.
If I purchase a CPU with 1333MHz, I believe the Motherboard will downgrade the CPU’s FSB to 1066MHz, is that right? Also, even if the Motherboard downgrades the CPU’s FSB speed, will I not still benefit from the increased CPU GHZ and larger cache? Currently there is an Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 2.66GHz 4MB/cache 1066MHz CPU installed. I have the opportunity to get an Intel Core 2 Quad 9650 3.00GHz 12MB/cache 1333MHz from another PC that is being stripped down for its PSU and graphics card. The CPU works fine. I’m just worried about an incompatibility issue due to the faster FSB of the CPU even though that CPU is list on the processor compatibility link listed above. Thanks for the help in advance.

Your link is the exact same as mine, and I agree with you 100%. I would only use CPUs found on that list. However, the list still shows my mobo is compatible with CPUs that have faster FSB speeds than the mobo supports. That's my big question, can I still benefit from those 1333MHz FSB CPUs despite my mobo's 1066MHz FSB?
