Alright so I'm a complete noob on building computers and I saw this build mentioned by a guy in a thread called "Cheapest possible gaming desktop to run league of legends at max settings"

Here's the build
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/xfhDzy

But the motherboard is sold out. I have a monitor with HDMI and VGA so i guess i need a mobo that has those inputs and some USB ports. Also, I think this build needs a drive to read and install the OS so maybe you can help me find a cheap optical drive. I have the OS already. I probably need other things with this build so maybe I can get some recommendations.

Solution
Lots of things we need to fix. 😛

1. Intel CPUs are best for LoL. Most MMORPGs benifit from fewer, faster cores. (And I don't mean GHz)
2. Your CPU comes with a heatsink in the box. So you wont need the rosewill one.
3. Best to get a 2x4gb kit in order to get full advantage of dual channel memory.
4. You need to plug your monitor into the GPU and not the motherboard.

Please check if you have a Micro Center near you.

A little cheaper and more powerful/more upgradable.

CPU: AMD A10-7850K 3.7GHz Quad-Core Processor ($139.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A88M-HD+ Micro ATX FM2+ Motherboard ($44.99 @ Micro Center)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory ($63.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($49.88 @ OutletPC)
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case ($34.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply ($24.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $358.83

If you're looking for better components and a simpler option, an APU can do quite well for LoL. This one is a little less expensive than getting a CPU and GPU, but you get a faster/better CPU and a similar GPU as the 250x (they are about the same because they can be used in dual graphics). Normally I don't suggest an APU, but if a low cost with decent components is your goal, this seems pretty solid.

Key points:
Quad Core 4.7 Ghz CPU
GPU is the same as an R7 250x
2133 Mhz Memory 8GB in Dual Channel
1024GB HDD with 64MB cache and 7200RPM
Clean looking case with USB 3.0

Edit - You would grab one of these for that old VGA cable you're using. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812423079&Tpk=N82E16812423079

The APU's CPU is that of a 860k and the GPU is worse than an r7 250. It would make far more sense to get a G3220 and a GT740 for that price.

<removed by modertor> IMO Intel is not better for your price range. Sure it may get minimal differences in LoL but, a quad core CPU in this day and age for gaming is a more reasonable option, with the exception of the G3258 if you want to overclock it to the balls. Get a dual 4GB RAM kit for around $70, that 8GB stick is MUCH MUCH more at $120 than what you'd pay for a two 4GB stick kit. Also for a minimal price add, get a Athlon 860k, which has a decent performance boost compared to the older 760k, and that Rosewill cooler is a piece of junk from the looks of it, save your money and use the stock cooler, or spend around $30 on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo. It has the best performance for the money. And quote robax91, the Fractal Design Core 1000, would be a better case choice. Good luck :)

I think I want to go with this build. I think that CPU is a little too fast and pricey and I've never overclocked anything before and I don't plan on doing that.

Edit: I have a laptop with Intel HD 4000 graphics and 2.5 GHz speed and I can run it fine on the laptop so I'm assuming i don't need it that fast. Also, my laptop is really unreliable I keep on getting BSODs and it has startup problems. Also, throw in some recommendations for any missing items or things that I'll need.

You mis-configured the motherboard and CPU, the board was an AMD board with a Pentium :3, that's ok though. This build I guarantee the best price-performance http://pcpartpicker.com/user/hftv/saved/4dHrxr the GTX 750 has a large performance difference between it and the GT 740, and uses less power, that one has a great deal at $85 for a 2GB model, and a single 8GB stick so you can upgrade to 16 later if you wanted. The Athlon 860k uses the same CPU cores as the A10-7850k but with no graphics, saving you money and the GTX 750 is an avid performer in games, letting you play majority of games maxed out including LoL, it would have been true before to go with Intel on LoL because it has better performance but the game is becoming old enough that a modern AMD CPU will have zero bottleneck issues.

Solution

That build doesnt have the best price/performance ratio. The 260x is the same price and it performs as good as the 750 ti. Good job dude.

That specific sale makes a GTX 750 the best value, and a 260X isn't $85. If he wants a higher tier card then he can find it.
