Motherboard Help Please

So my motherboard which is an msi 870 g45 I do not have all the parts to my build yet (missing my ram) But I wanted to test it to make sure everything at least turns on before I get the ram and put it in so I though I hooked everything up but forgot a 4 pin power connector in the corner of the board and turned on the psu without this plugged in but the fan on the psu wouldnt start going. Thought this was a problem with my power supply so I did the paperclip test and my power supply was working fine shouldnt it still turn on the psu without the ram in or no? did it bust my motherboard when I attempted to turn it on without the 4 pin?

No, the motherboard will not start up without RAM. You probably did not harm the mobo.

4 pin usually for providing extra power to pci-ex, (some to CPU & mem O.C.), so it's unlikely it will bust your mobo...

I would check again all cabling, install internal speaker and tried again..
without rams usually u will hear a error beep...
