Motherboard help please

Hi guys, I am currently looking to upgrade my gpu but am confused about the slots. I currently have a gtx 750 ti running in a pcie x4 but I don't know whether it's running in a 2.0 or 3.0.I have a gigabyte f2a88xd3h, and I'm looking to upgrade to a gtx 960. Will the 960 work fine in the slot?

It's running in PCIe 2.0 and yes the GTX 960 will work.

Yes, the gtx 960 is compatible with your motherboard though the 16x slot. Ensure your power supply can deliver at least 450w.

K so to be sure it will work in the x4 slot? The x16 slot is covered by 2 fan wires that I don't want to move at the moment.

The PCIe 2.0 X16 slot is X4. You need to use it. The other three are X1 slots.

I'm still confused, my 750 ti is in the bottom pcie not the x16 at the top, maybe explaining the slots would help me

You need to use the long slot nearest the CPU. It's actually the second slot because there's a short X1 slot above it.

K so I wouldn't use the slot my 750 ti is currently in nearly at the bottom? Just trying to clarify before I try to re wire the fan wires. Is there any possible way I can use the slot my 750 ti is in thats not the one nearest the cpu?

The bottom slot is a secondary slot. The GPU should be in the primary X16 slot closest to the CPU.
