Motherboard io shield

So my motherboard is a prime z-270 a and the io shield has these things on some of them they are metal they are on the dvi usb 3.1 hdmi and display port ports. They are things just there that you can band or take off what the check are these help.

If you are taking about the little tabs that sit on of these ports, dont remove them, allow them to sit on top of the ports, they are for grounding purposes.
 
well what if I adjacent did but only on the usb3.1 also can you link a video of how to install a shield properly

Ive had one of those stuck in the LAN port before and not realised it until ive finished my build, gone to plug in the LAN cable, couldnt get it in then realised what was wrong, and had to take half of the system apart again to get the tab out and sit on top of it.
