Basically, the display doesn't work when I turn on the computer. I did some troubleshooting and found that the display turns on when there's only 1 stick of 4gb ram. However, when i tested both 4gb sticks on a different computer, they work perfectly fine. Is there any reason for this?

One of the ram sticks won't work with any slot on the motherboard.

Tradesman1 is probably right, adjust your timings and try again with a single stick. If that doesn't work, but you are sure both sticks are working, then it is probably a problem with the DIMM slots on your mobo. I would suggest replacing it.

I had the same RAM in a previous build and when I recieved them 2 were malfunctioning the same as yours. G.Skill is a good company and if you purchased them from newegg you still have a chance to return them. It's most likely a bad stick.
