hi ppls, I have a problem..?????

I have an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe motherboard with 2 x 4g corsair xms3 ram, ati 3870 512 graphics card. I am running windows 7 ultimate 64bit and my cpu is core 2 quad 2.66ghz ( Q9450).

Although i have installed 8g ram 2x4gb corsair XMS3, my system is only showing 2g. i have done various things to find out why my mobo is only recognizing 2g. I have changed the sticks of ram around in different dimms. i have checked the bios settings as well as checking the admin section in device manager to make sure my mobo is not limited in ram usage but still nothing, only 2g.
I have recently purchased BF3 but can not run it as i have severe lag and my graphics card is running @ approx 90 degrees when i load the game.

Can ANYBODY help.................??? Please.

There is a section in the windows configuration files that can limit the maximum RAM your windows is capable of using.

Start - Run
Type in msconfig
Click Yes if you are asked whether or not to allow this program to run
Look in the Boot.ini tab
Go in advanced options

If there is a maximum memory box checked, then uncheck it.
