Motherboard memory slots

Hi

I was wondering if it is worth having 4 memory slots on the motherboard or if 2 is ok. I only plan on using 2 memory modules but is it worth it to have more slots. Are there any advantages to having 4 over 2 slots even if their not all used.

Also could someone explain what dual channel memory configuration is

If you are happy with only 2, then you don't need 4. The 4 would just make a memory upgrade easier - because you can just add more memory and not have to replace what you already have,

Never a good idea to try and mix packages of DRAM...take a look through the forums, they are filled with people trying to mix DRAM from different packages (even of the same exact model) and problem after problem, more on this in my article - items 2-6, here:
