Question motherboard no led?

I just finished my build with

MSI MPG Z390 gaming edge ac
i5 - 9600k

I don’t see an LED that indicates the mobo being on.

and when I try to turn it on, it turns on for a split second and turns off.

things I’ve tried:
- removing ram and putting it back in
-reapply thermal paste
- trying different slots for the cpu fan
-removed gpu

i just think the mobo is defective at this point.

However, when I unplug the 8 pin connector the pc does turn on.
