Motherboard not accepting CPU

Hi. I have an Intel Pentium Dual Core and I want to replace it with a Pentium D. When I power up the system with a Pentium Dual Core it doesn't post. So I thought I had to update the bios. The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF-RH. When I have the bios on a usb stick formatted correctly, I go to the bios and press f8, this is apparently meant to bring the update utilities up, it doesn't. Am I doing this wrong? Can anyone help me?

It is possible than your system was damaged during the CPU swap (bent pins). Is the replacement CPU listed on the compatible CPU list?

When I put the Pentium D back in it works fine and the cpu is listed too. I also tried a few Core 2 Duos and they didn't work either, any ideas?

I think it was running 20 something. I just remember seeing

BIOS VERSION : 20 (something else)

something like that

That can't be the BIOS version, it should begin with an "F". Look at the compatible CPU list I sent earlier to see what I mean.
