Motherboard not detecting ram?

I have an ASUS A68HM-E motherboard, and an 8gb stick of Mushkin eco2 RAM. I inserted into my motherboard, and turned on my pc. I got no display, followed by 1 long beep and 2 short beeps. After doing research, I see other people habe had similar problems. What do I do?

tried both slots?
You have only one stick of ram? Maybe someone you know from whom you can lend a stick for testing?
