Motherboard not using gpu

I got a new mobo a mine isn't working and I've set it up but for some reason when I plug the monitor into the gpu the display is not doing anything. But if If I plug the monitor into the board it works fine. Does anybody know why tho might be happening. It's also not being recognized in device manager

Motherboard is asus maximums vi hero and gpu is asus radeon r7 250x

If the motherboard output works, it's not detecting the GPU (as typically that would disable the iGPU).

Was this GPU known, working prior to the motherboard replacement?

yeah it was definately working
