Motherboard not working?

I recently put together my first gaming PC. Tried turning it on, and nothing happens. No lights, no fans; nothing. The PSU works; I used the test kit that it came with and it turned on just fine (the fans spun at least). But when I plug it into the 24-pin, nothing happens. Is my motherboard dead? Quick note: I did not use an ESD wrist strap but I worked on a wooden table and hardwood floors; Is it possible ESD shorted it? Is it just dead? Is the CPU dead?

Not likely for ESD to kill mobo's but it happens.

Have a look at this thread...

Make sure the 8pin EPU and 24pin is firmly seated, the clip on the back should be down all the way.
