Hey hey, I have an asus prime a320m-k Motherboard and a set of 2x 8gb g skill F4-3000C16D-16GISB Ram.

My Pc will only booth in single channel and not boot at all in dual channel...
I see in the manual only has 1 DIMM (as seen in attached imgur) available so im assuming its just not possible to get both sticks working?
Are there any bypasses or am i doing something wrong or am I better off just getting a new set..?

Thanks.

Hey I have the latest bios installed
Where did you see that MB has only one DIM slot available ? It has 2 slots and both should be working in dual channel, Which CPU do you have ? First gen Ryzen has problems with RAM over 2666MHz. and 300 series MBs also have wrong memory path architecture for faster RAM, Try to set RAM to 2133MHz for start.

The specs seem to indicate that the chipset only supports dual channel with
AMD 7th Generation A-Series/Athlon X4 Processors

Time to reconsider your needs.

This is the link to my mother board memory support

But yes you are spot on I have a first gen Ryzen5 1600x, is there any way around this ?
Bad combination of CPU and MB. Cpu officially supports memory up to 2666MHz But on 300 series MBs only very good RAM with Samsung b-die chips worked good or a bit over. Ad to that poor BIOS support for very basic MBs like A320 and you get trouble.

Ahh I see :/

So how should I prioritise my next upgrade ?
New CPU? New MB? Completely New upgrade kit ?

I have an RTX 2060 6gb GPU so I knew it was inevitable that I would need to upgrade the rest..

What is your budget?
Where might you shop?
2060 is still decent, and a cpu/mobo upgrade would be good.
If 16gb of ram will suffice, you can reuse it.
I normally suggest that an amd user upgrade to amd.
But, in your case, Intel will use you ram nicely with no ddr4 performance issues.
A MATX DDR4 B760 motherboard is <$100, and a I3-14100 IS $143. This chip is particularly good for games with a high single thread performance. It scores 772 on the cpu-Z single thread bench test.
Run the cpu-z bench on your 1600, the single thread performance should be around 389.

If you play multiplayer with many participants, my advice would change to a processor with more threads.

Depends on your budget but newest possible generation MB+CPU+RAM will always last longer.
I’m 21 and live in South Africa my budget is not

hey quick update I upgraded to Ryzen 5 5500x and the same thing 😵

hey so I did upgrade to Ryzen 5 5500x and I’m running into the same issue 💔 maybe just a bad slot ?
