I built a Gaming PC about 9 months ago and it's worked perfectly until yesterday.
All of a sudden my computer won't start but the situation is strange. I can get to BIOS perfectly fine and test different parts. It freezes at the ASUS logo screen when the loading wheel is spinning. At first I thought it was my hard drive because one time it went through loading screen and gave me an error saying it could not load Windows (this only happened once). I tried a recovery USB at this point but the recovery program runs for a second and then freezes. I then tried a windows recovery CD; same problem occurred. Next I tried to run Ubuntu from a CD which also froze after starting up. I tried all of these steps with and without the hard drive connected multiple times. I then plugged in a new blank SSD drive and attempted to install windows fresh. It got to the download screen then froze. I know it's not my PSU, Graphics card, or RAM because of tests. I'm left with either a bad mother board or CPU. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Motherboard: asus m5a97 r 2.0
RAM: 8 Gb (2 sticks)
PSU: 670 Watt (not certain)
GFX: Radeon 720 ( msi)
Hard drive : really old 320 Gb (not ssd)
