The guy at our main computer store told me gigabyte mobo's have a slower feel 'drag' (like mouse wise) than asus. Within a given chipset z370 for example is there actual performance difference in companies or bios??

I did not think company made difference beyond features and cooling/oc abilities?? I have EVGA mobo from like 6 years ago... would asus or gigabyte windows preform differnt than my current or than each other???

They will all perform the same, with just a minimal 1-2 FPS at max difference in games. The difference is in the features and VRM as in how good they are to overclock, but this is more a model to model difference than a brand to brand difference.
In the end, mobos from Asus, Gigabyte, MSI and Asrock are all good boards and none of them are particular bad. Just stay away from
any other brands (EVGA also being a good brand but they don't make mobos anymore).
The computer store don't have a clue what they are talking about or they just wanna sell you the Asus because maybe they earn more from that.
