  • Ok I've had this Motherboard for a long time now but only recently it started to play on my mind that I had done something wrong (I'm having no PC issues, no black, blue screens, freezing or crashing of any kind but It's still taunting me.

I have a 8 pin and 4 pin power slot, My question is do I just use the 8 pin like I'm doing or am I supposed to use all 12 ?

I don't know what model motherboard that is, but generally you only need the 8 pin. That 4 pin is used for something, but I couldn't tell you what without knowing the make and model of the board. It should say in the manual what its for then you can determine if its needed.

This is my Motherboard : https://www.asus.com/ROG-Republic-Of-Gamers/CROSSHAIR_V_FORMULAZ/

I never got one, I'm sure theres one online but rather ask others first hand before jumping into a manual, I have a terrible understanding when reading.

Just to add to this page 1-43 has a better explanation but doesn't completely explain it.

This board can handle both AM3 and AM3+ processors. If you use a lower power AM3+ or an AM3 processor you only need to use the 4 pin connection. That said TBH it is a strange feature on such a high end board, if I was spending this much on a motherboard I wouldn't be using a low power processor on it.

I'm using a AMD FX-8350 8-Core Processor Black Edition 4.0GHz Socket AM3+ and a CS750M 750Watt Corsair Module PSU, So from what I can understand I just stick with my 8 pin as I'm already using ?

Yes. Your installation is optimal

Yes you're all good with that setup, you can ignore that other plug you will never need it.
