I have a Dell Optiplex 790 and I have recently bought a new case, motherboard,Power supply, video card and a cpu fan, I have taken the CPU,Disk drive and the hard drive out of the Optiplex 790 and put them into the new case along with the new motherboard but when i had everything build and i power up the new pc and when it says starting windows it freezes, I get blue screened for half a second and then brings me back to the menu where you can either choose start up repair or start windows normally I choose the start up repair but after a while it says it cannot repair it automatically , I cant put the new drivers onto my pc because I cant even get onto the desktop to install them. :??:

So i want to know if this is a motherboard problem or a windows 7 problem

Thanks

Solution
Yeah, you will need to follow Bad_Kitty13's advise.
The OEM version of Windows is tied to the original motherboard, and swapping a new one in there will require a newly purchased OS, or free ones.

it says in microsofts faq's that oem os on factory builds will not be supported with upgrades that arent approved by the manufacturer. you can always try calling them and explaining your situation seeing if they can help you though.
