Motherboard short circuit? Did I fry it?

So I am building a new pc, i only have the motherboard, PSU and fans(LED). Being the dumbass i am, i plugged the case fan while the PC was running then it completely shut off, i tried reopening it but it only turned for like half a second, tried it a couple of times and still did the same thing, i waited hours and even the next day it still did the same thing, i put on the speaker there no beep at all, there is no burnt smell or any burnt spots so i dont know whats wrong, my PSU works since i tried the paper clip method. someone help plz my motherboard is MSI b250 gaming pro.

what is your power supply? can you borrow a psu for testing?
plugging in a fan should not damage the board.
paperclip method only tests that the PSU can power itself, not provide any load.

my power supply is EVGA 500 W1, 80+ WHITE 500W, The wire that i plugged was the wire that was included on the case which is technically a case fan. haha.
