motherboard speaker or transducer

If one's motherboard doesn't have a built in "speaker" (looks more like a transducer to me) for the POST beeps and the case doesn't have a cheap little speaker to plug into the "SPK" or "SPEAK" or whatever pins, are these the alternatives?

Yes for all three.
Newer boards have leds that help in troubleshooting (CPU, DRAM VGA or q-code).
