This is my first PC build and I got the ROG Zenith II Extreme motherboard with a Phantek Enthoo Pro Tempered Glass case, an ATX case that fits E-ATX motherboard.
For this case, the standoffs were pre-installed in the case, but Page 14 of the case manual says an extra standoff is required for E-ATX motherboards.
What's confusing me about this is that the motherboard only appears to have 8 mounting holes for the standoffs when the manual shows 9 places for the standoffs.
Currently, the board's secured down with 8 screws for the stand-off mounts that are visible on the board.
Left to right horizontally in the Phantek manual image starting from the top-left hand corner, holes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 are secured down with screws in the pre-installed standoffs.
I'm not sure whether hole 2 is hidden under the VRAM heatsink, but when I tried screwing in the supplied additional stand-off in other holes, it didn't seem to go in any of the holes where the motherboard is sitting.
Anyone have experience in mounting this particular motherboard to ATX cases? Are 8 or 9 standoff mounts required?
Should I physically remove the board and try to put the additional stand off in every single available hole in the case even though there doesn't appear to be any more holes to accommodate the standoff M3 screw on the MB?
Are there other TRX40 boards that have different placemenets of the standoff holes which may be why the manual for the case says an additional standoff is required?
Just don't want to get right to the end of the build only to shorten my components as i've spent a substantial sum of money on this high-end 3960x/2080TI build.
