Motherboard Struggle .

So i went off and bought a I5 7600k 7. Generation CPU and everything seemed compatible with the PC that i have rn.... but when trying to fit it in the motherboard it kinda didn't fit and now im asking myself if i should send the i5 back to where i got it from and continue my life as a pentium peasant or if with some luck i can find a motherboard compatible.... the thing is, I have a
ASUS H87I-PLUS Motherboard, as of what I know its a smaller motherboard, and thats neccesary because m case is a little smaller. As you might already know, im super bad with computers and I just need some advise as to what i should do...

The CPU and motherboard are not compatible. They use different CPU sockets:
