New to PC gaming, trying to get full 5.1 surround sound. Looking to buy these speakers --> https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VAK1FA/

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-B250M-DS3H. The MB supports 5.1 surround sound, but it only has the green output (does not have the orange and black outputs needed to correctly hook these PC speakers up for true surround sound).

Why would Gigabyte say this supports 5.1 surround sound if it does not have the correct connections? If I have to buy a sound card, that defeats the purpose of the MB having 5.1 sound.

The MB has a S/PDIF Out Header - am I suppose to buy something for that to get the orange and black outputs?

Manual --> http://download.gigabyte.us/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_ga-b250m-ds3h_e.pdf

Thanks for the help for a total noob to PC gaming.

Thank you bistwo!

Is there such a thing as PC speakers that support SPDIF? If not, I will buy a sound card.
