I have an HPE Pavilion H8-1120 computer and a new GeForce GTX 960 that doesn't work with it. So I'm trying to see whether there's a mother that will fit my processor, and yet also supports the GTX 960. I would like to reuse the processor because I don't have the money to get a new mobo and a new CPU.

So for this new graphics card will I have to gut my PC?

Update: here's some more information on my system:

  • * Intel i7-2600 CPU, H61
    * Bought the computer in November, 2011
    * Current motherboard is a Pegatron IPISB-CU
    * 600W power supply

The motherboard should have at least 1 PCIE 2.0 slot that the GTX 960 is backwards compatible with. Given that the machine is an HP(?) I would assume it has a less than stellar power supply. likely in the 280-350 watt range. Just looked up the 960 and it recommends a 400 watt power supply. Also I believe the card requires added power that the PSU might not have cables for 4 or 4+2 power.

Thanks for your reply, Richard. I do have a 600W power supply in my computer. The problem is the motherboard. I e-mailed PNY and they said it was the motherboard, saying, "All of the GTX cards sold today require UEFI." Unless I can find a BIOS update which can put in proper UEFI support in my motherboard (a Pegatron IPISB-CU motherboard), I need a new one.

Thank you, Calvin7, I shall look into that motherboard.
*Looks into that motherboard*
Looks good so far. Can it fit my i7-2600 processor? In other words, can my H61 chipset fit, and work, on this B75 Express chipset?
