Motherboard to SLI gtx 970?

I would guess what ever z board with the best slot arrangement if you read reviews to see how the slots are wired in you may see some boards may rob from one slot to feed another like if it states 8x8 on pci-e but if you add another card this may change

look at slots in this link now with intel this can be a different set up from one board to the next depending on the model

tricky...

so whats your conclusion bro should i opt for that mobo?
and if i dont SLI which is the best mobo for same specs?

don't know cant find nothing on that msi --- but you see with the asus if you add 3 cards the 3ed card will run at 1x and not 4x like the asrock this is one crazy thing I noticed when I first went intel its not straight forward as amd boards

it looks like this board is this way and that is that way even in the same brand of the same chipset this one's this way and that one is that way -- tiis one runs off the cpu and that one off the chipset ?? , crazy..for me it ended up being a lot to look at

P.S I guess in intel if you want to play with the big boys you pay well for plx boards for just $600 you can have this with intel

PCI Express 3.0 x16: 5 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 Slots (PCIE1/PCIE2/PCIE3/PCIE4/PCIE5: single at x16 (PCIE1); dual at x16 (PCIE1) / x16 (PCIE4); triple at x16 (PCIE1) / x16 (PCIE2) / x16 (PCIE4); quad at x16 (PCIE1) / x16 (PCIE2) / x16 (PCIE4) / x16 (PCIE5))

You can grab this from Gigabyte: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128701 and it will not cost you $600. Pair it with a capable i5 CPU, which you have and you are in biz. I own this board and am currently running a single MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G OC'd, running at 1500Mhz with no issues and have the i7 4790K with an OC. Overkill is an understatement...

It will be running a second MSI 970 in about a month and thanks to the PLX chip, both cards will be running at X16.

hey thanks mate for dat link dat was really helpfull:bounce:

I was liking this board but as you see when you add a 3ed card it looses its sli capability [ I think all slots got to be x8 for sli ] but for crossfire its fine [amd requires x4] [opinion]

Looking above, you can see that GIGABYTE has opted for a slightly different setup to what we've seen from other Z97 boards. While we see the same three PCIe x16 slots, which run at x16, x8/x8, or x8/x4/x4

yeah you are right.

I got a z87 and heres what it says in its manual

Expansion
Slot
• 3 x PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots (PCIE2/PCIE3/PCIE4: single
at x16 (PCIE2); dual at x8 (PCIE2) / x8 (PCIE3); triple at x8
(PCIE2) / x4 (PCIE3) / x4 (PCIE4))
• 1 x PCI Express 2.0 x1 slot
• 2 x PCI slots
• 1 x mini-PCI Express slot
• Supports AMD Quad CrossFireX, 3-Way CrossFireX and
CrossFireX
• Supports NVIDIA® Quad SLI and SLI

so if it supporting 8x4x4 as it shows then how is it also supporting NVIDIA Quad SLI and SLI as it also shows ???

I don't know I just go with one good card or a card that does all I need and forget aboujt doing sli

sli = Sudden-Loss- of- Income -- I did sli once and that's about all I got out of it in the long run - I found just get one of the best cards you can and be donre with it [opinion]
