I have a Delock USB Type-C Hub [ DeLock USB 3.1 Hub 3 Type-C ] that supports up to three USB-A Ports and a SDcard [ it also has a 5V power-in barrel connector ]. When I use it on it's own with it's own attached 10cm cable it works like a charm. When I plug-in the USB-C extended cable 1m ( male - female ) it starts not to work correctly, but that's not the case with my laptop. I've tested it on my PC [ asus b450-f gaming] motherboard and laptop [ G752VT ].
What I've tried :
1) Plug in the hub directly to PC. Works perfectly
2) Plug in the hub directly to laptop. Works perfectly
3) Plug in the hub with the extender cable in PC. Works partially ( does not always recognize all USB devices and Never recognize smartphone's file transfer [phone works well on USB-A port with USB-A to USB-C cable )
4) Plug in the hub with the extender cable in laptop. Works perfectly
At first I thought it was thinking it was some driver issue. Then I thought it was an over-currect issue and my PC could not deliver the the appropriate power with the added cable resistance.
5)I've tried to plug-in an 1A/5V power supply to the hub but nothing better happened.
Is there anything I can do? Does USB-C is so power hungry that it fails to deliver the needed power, so I must find a bigger power supply?
